Introduction

With the financial aid of BROT Smallholder’s Empowerment by Entrepreneurship (in Agriculture) Development in Dolakha, Nepal - “SEED" is ongoing in 10 villages (8 former VDCs) of Dolakha. SEED is a complementary project to CILRREN with four new working area (3 ward of SRM or 2 former VDC). The project is contributing in poverty reduction of small holders and addresses for livelihood promotion, food security while a focusing in women’s empowerment, resilience against climate change and adaptation.

Objective:

Objective 1: Marginalized earthquake affected targeted HHs (Households) in the 6 VDCs practiced diversified agriculture and improved their livelihoods

Objective 2: Marginalized earthquake-affected target HHs in the 6 VDCs increased their community-based disaster preparedness.

Expected Result:

 

1500 small holders in 10 villages of Dolakha have improved their livelihood base and adapted their agriculture to climate resilient farming.

 

  •  (1000 old and 500 new) Small holders’ households (at least 50% women beneficiaries) have increased their income by 35% in average.
  • At least 7 agriculture commodities have undergone value addition and are marketed by 14 beneficiaries group benefitting 60% of targeted HHs.
  • 50 % of small holder farmers adapting at least 6 of the climate resilient practices and follow all the non-negotiable criteria. (Comment- the project has defined what comes under climate resilient farming and non- negotiable criteria)
